Commodity structure of trade
Release time: 2023-03-15
The composition of trade is the proportion of various commodities in the total trade value. This involves a problem of commodity classification. Generally, there are two classification methods.
(1) The United Nations Secretariat's Standard Classification of Foreign Trade (SITC): tangible goods are divided into 10 categories in order, of which 0-4 categories are called primary goods, 5-8 categories are called finished goods, and 9 categories are other goods without classification. The proportion of primary products and manufactured goods in import and export commodities represents the commodity structure of trade.
(2) It is classified according to the production factors invested in the production of a certain commodity. It can be divided into labor-intensive commodities, capital-intensive commodities and other production factor-intensive commodities.
